VeloCity Bike Cooperative

I have yet to make it to this cooperative. One day I may, but in the mean time, it looks like they're doing just fine.  Check them out, work on your bike, and go hang out and bullshit.  It's a great way to meet people and learn. You can't beat that.

Fleeting Days of Warmth

The days of comfortable temperatures, at least here, are diminishing. It makes me wish I lived somewhere more pleasant.  Don't get me wrong, I like Virginia, but I don't like being cold.  This video reminds me of warmer, more enjoyable days on my bike.

There's No Such Thing as Bad Weather, Just Bad Gear and Bad Attitudes

Well it is that time of year again, winter! The time of year where many of us hang up the bike and take on a sedentary lifestyle. The time of year where our New Year Resolutions include becoming more active and eating less sugar, after the Holidays of course. For some, including those who live in Virginia then you know that this time of year is plagued by bitter cold temperatures. And with all these factors, you might be the weekend warrior that finds him/herself pushing on alone.  Well if…

Shenandoah Bicycle Company

I often post videos made in far away places, but sometimes, you have to realize what's right down the road.  Peter and Jon have put it so succinctly in this video.  It was filmed at and around Shenandoah Bicycle Company in Harrisonburg, VA.  Great people.  Although the grass is sometimes greener, I can't deny that one of the best places to ride a bike is in my home state.

"The bicycle is a simple solution to…

Bicycle Improvements for Centerville

This is an article I read about nearby Centerville and the infastructure improvements they intend to make.  It's good news for sure, I especially like this line:

“Arlington has a ten-year jump on us, plus their urban environment is more conducive to bicycles,” Strunk said. “Regionwide, biking is taking off. Just look at D.C. On the…

Paisley Bicycles

I stopped by Bikenetic today to check out what Jan's done with the place.  It looks great. Top notch LBS.  While I was there, I ran across this bad boy as Bryan was working on it:

I never knew there was a custom bicycle maker with my…

New Bike Shop in Lyon Park

A new bike shop has opened in Arlington, VA.  It's called Old Bike Shop, and it specializes in vintage and refurbished bikes and bike parts.

“There are a lot of shops in the area, but they serve a higher-end clientele — someone who’s already into bikes, already into racing, someone who’s into spending a couple of…

So this past weekend, Jules and I departed to Harper's Ferry from Great Falls.  We stopped a few times along the way in White's FerryBrunswick, and a few other places.…
